Tea Time

Across the country, restaurants, cultural venues and retail shops serve premium teas, while supermarkets, convenience stores and vending machines are stocking bottled tea.

According to the Tea Association of the USA, the number of Americans who will drink tea today is about 160 million, about half of the U.S. population. And, 2012 continued with the trend of increased consumer purchases of tea — surpassing the $2.25 billion mark in retail supermarket sales.

Ever since 2737 B.C., when Chinese legend says leaves from an overhanging Camellia sinensis plant fell into Emperor Shen Nung's cup of boiling water, tea has been recognized by cultures around the world for its capacity to soothe, restore and refresh. Far from being an apocryphal promise, tea has been lauded for an array of potential health benefits — from reducing cancer and heart disease risk, improving dental health and boosting weight loss.

Tea and Heart HealthThe strongest evidence is on the side of heart health, attributed to the antioxidants in tea. Flavonoids in both black and green tea prevent oxidation of LDL, or "bad" cholesterol, reduce blood clotting and improve widening of blood vessels in the heart. Studies that looked at the relationship of black tea intake and heart health reported decreased incidence of heart attack, lower cholesterol levels and significantly lower blood pressure.

Can Tea Prevent Cancer?Support for tea’s cancer prevention benefits is less compelling. It has been suggested that antioxidant polyphenol compounds — particularly catechins — in tea may play a role in preventing cancer. However, a 2007 review reported that with the exception of colorectal cancer, studies related to black tea and other cancers were extremely limited or conflicting.

Tea for TeethIn 2010, Japanese researchers reported at least one cup of green tea per day was associated with significantly decreased odds for tooth loss. Other studies have suggested tea may lower the pH of the tooth surface, suppressing the growth of periodontal bacteria. A more likely reason for tea’s anti-cariogenic effect is its fluoride content. Tea usually is brewed with fluoridated water and the tea plant naturally accumulates fluoride from the soil.

Tea and Weight LossEvidence supporting tea as a weight-loss aid is based mainly on studies that used tea extracts (ECGC and other catechins, flavanols, polyphenols and caffeine). These results may not be directly applicable to brewed tea consumed in normal amounts.

Tea and HydrationThe caffeine content of tea varies widely depending on the kind of tea used and the way in which it is brewed. Typical levels for tea are less than half that of coffee, ranging from 20 to 60 milligrams per 8 ounces (compared to 50 to 300 milligrams in coffee). Studies found no negative effects on hydration with intakes of up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day (the amount in about seven cups of the strongest brewed tea).

Thoughts About The Gifts Life Has To Offer

I know I studied my passionate topic Nutrition near here at the University of Florida some years ago. I lived in Northern NJ most of life. I traveled to Stunning Steamboat Springs Colorado to open Feeding The Body Feeding The Soul and now I am in Serene Saint Augustine Florida bringing the Nutrition Counseling, the Healing Classes and Sessions that I learned 14 years ago when the World Trade Centers collapsed and I got a "stomach ache".( little did I know the significance of that stomach ache)

I share my  short synopsis of how I got here this day, because I know for certain that what comes from a crisis, or a hardship or a health challenge sent me off in a direction I thought I'd never go in. I went to a Reiki Master and had a session in 2001 and here I am launching my new class schedule here in Florida. Be sure to see the " Classes Page" here.

Have you ever wondered- "how can things get worse or why don't I feel well " to yourself?

I did that many times, and yet now I am teaching Nutrition and the Healing Modalities and other courses that I love- Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy, Mediumship, The Path of Light and coming in 2016 I will be teaching the Universal Rays Healing as well.

If you are ready to change, to open your mind to other possibilities and would like to learn either Reiki or Integrated Energy Therapy in a class with other like-minded people- then check out my calendar page, and call to register for one of these magnificent classes. They begin in September.

I have taught many students over the past years and brought many new practitioners into their own Healing Practices in a big way or just learning for their own use.

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Sign up for a class, a session, and just go have fun! There is an awesome celebration taking place this week here in St. Augustine of it's 450th birthday celebration. Happy Birthday St. Augustine!

Wishing you a great day~

Many Blessings,

Nancy

I never thought last August when I did my own ALCAT Test, that I would be telling you about the good news I am going to share.

I just thought I'd take the test- tell my clients about the process- and then I could go along my merry way- and then BAM! I got my results back and found out I had a high predetermination for potential Crohn's Disease.

So I muddled through my results, I was sad- no chocolate, tea or coffee(yes I like those vices too) no dairy, no celery, I had a lot of no's-- and I didn't feel so great either- if truth be told.  My tummy hurt-

I also started taking some really great supplements from Designs For Health that collaborated with my ALCAT lists- and I stuck with it. Through Thanksgiving, Hannukah, my birthday and Christmas- no wheat filled cake, cheesecake, oh all of my Holiday Favorites- rrrrrr, not fun.

But then, my doctor and I scheduled a Colonoscopy on January 9th- and I couldn't believe the results- clear, clear, clear.  I was so happy I had stuck this process through. And I do feel so much better.

So now onto my next glass of lemonade!

I just recently had a mammogram- I've been doing these for 20 years plus since my own mom had died of Cancer- and it started with breast cancer.

I told my doctor that I always do  breast sonograms- since I had fibrous tissue results every year for the past 20 years- standard for me- and she said- start with a mammogram and we will go from there.

Glass of lemonade number two!  I was told that my fibrous tissue had significantly changed- for the better-  they showed me the pictures from two years ago- and said- it was so much clearer. I saw it for myself!

I am never going to promise you the same outcomes I have had from following my ALCAT Protocol- that would be foolish and unprofessional- but I was excited, happy and wanted to share my good news. When we get the inflammation out of our bodies, be it food, chemicals, stress-  anything is possible.

Contact me if you would like to schedule an ALCAT Test, or an Integrated Energy Therapy Session for you- you just don't know how much better you can feel!

What is Reiki?

What is a chakra?  The word chakra comes from Sanskrit meaning : “spinning wheel”. In a sense it explains the meaning of the role of the chakras - rotating energy centers of incoming and outgoing energy. They continually receive and transmit energy and other information from the different parts of your body.

During February, the month of love, we focus on our hearts, love and feelings of caring and warmth. Why not learn how to open our heart chakras, chakra balancing and bring ourselves into harmony?

The Heart Chakra sits between the breasts. It is the center of your enlightened consciousness and connects yourself to all of the gateways of your other energy bodies (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies). By opening the heart chakra you connect more fully with your divine essence and hold your heart open to all that is.

It is through your heart chakra that you may connect with the heart of your soul and have a more expansive and fulfilling relationship with yourself and others. When open and activated, the heart chakra is the chalice of your joy. You see and hear people through the loving nature of your heart gateway. When your heart chakra is closed you will hear others through judgement and fear.

It is your heart chakra that assists you to open to receive unconditional love and share that with others as well as the rest of your physical body and other chakras. When your heart chakra is closed or lacking chakra balancing, you might experience heart ailments, breathing issues, blood pressure issues, fear, inability to love or unable to love nourish and support the self.

With chakra balancing of the heart you can experience peace, harmony and love.

Try the following activities daily and keep your heart open to love!
  • Give and receive 12 hugs a day for optimal health. So give hugs and kisses.
  • Smile at everyone you see daily, even if you don’t feel like smiling.
  • Forgive others and yourself.
  • Give friends, family and co-workers positive feedback.
  • Avoid criticizing anyone or anything, including yourself.
  • Take any opportunity you can to foster love and loving feelings. Love is like a current. Whatever you give will come back to you.
