The 5 Keys To Staying Young 
We have more aging adults alive today than at any other time in history. This is no small feat. With advances in medicine, better access to resources, and improvement in our general quality of life, living well into our 80s and beyond is a realistic expectation to hold.
That being said, there is a general understanding that getting older means developing health complications. Osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, cognitive decline, hearing loss and decreased stamina are often associated with aging. The question that remains is, is this physical decline inevitable? The answer is not necessarily. When it comes to healthy aging, lifestyle plays a role and although we may not be able to change genetics or random chance, a preventive lifestyle can make a big difference.
 
1 - Lower Your Stress High levels of stress over prolonged periods of time is dangerous at any age, but can be more difficult to recover from as we get older. When we experience stress, the hormone cortisol is released into our system. For instances of short-term stress, this is a good thing, cortisol acts as an internal alarm system and is crucial for keeping us safe. Once the stressful situation has passed, our cortisol level should drop in accordance with our heart rate.
 
How Stress Makes You Feel Older Long-term stress often keeps our internal alarm system activated. This wreaks havoc on the body affecting our sleep and recovery time, our energy levels, our mental and emotional acuity. Prolonged stress can lead to:
  • weight gain
  • insomnia
  • migraines
  • short-term memory problems
  • brain fog
  • digestive problems
  • inflammation
  • high blood pressure
  • high cholesterol
  • heart disease
Over time, stress can become naturalized in our body. We get used to it. We know we’re stressed out but we lose track of the degree, and how long we’ve been experiencing it. Dealing with the consequences of long-term stress just becomes normal.
 
Lifestyle Changes That Help The preventative measures listed below can help minimize your cortisol levels and regain your health:
  • an anti-inflammatory diet
  • acupuncture
  • time in nature / being outdoors
  • regular moderate exercise
  • nutrient balancing and supplement support for your adrenals
  • weighted blanket
 
2 - Manage Your Insulin Insulin may not be something you discuss with your family doctor if you don’t have a diabetes diagnosis, but research tells us that maintaining stable insulin levels is a key to longevity. Meanwhile, insulin resistance due to chronically high insulin has been shown to predict and accelerate the development of age-related diseases including hypertension, coronary heart disease, dementia, stroke, cancer, and type 2 diabetes.
 
Ditch Refined Carbohydrates When we eat a steady diet of refined carbohydrates and quickly absorbed sugars, our cells slowly become more insulin resistant, requiring more insulin to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. The higher our insulin levels stay, the more resistant our cells become, eventually leading to what is often called metabolic syndrome: A collection of symptoms including fatigue, excess fat around the midsection, increased blood pressure, elevated fasting blood sugar and increased inflammation throughout the body.
 
Insulin Testing Insulin levels go up long before they develop into issues such as hypoglycemia and prediabetes, and early detection can help change the course of what happens next. Often, we are unaware that our insulin levels have increased and are nearing dangerous levels. Lab testing to determine your levels is important in understanding where you stand now as well as having a measurement to assess your progress.
 
Lifestyle Changes The actions needed to prevent and reduce insulin resistance in the early stages are fairly simple: reduce your consumption of refined carbohydrates, eat protein at every meal, and stay active. An Integrative/functional nutritionist can help you keep track of your insulin levels and recommend the right supplements for your specific needs.
3 – Keep Your Hormones Balanced 
Hormones are messengers that affect everything in our bodies, from our growth and development to reproduction, tissue repair, metabolism, immunity, and inflammation. Keeping our hormones functioning optimally is imperative to staying healthy. As we age however, our hormone secretion becomes less efficient, which leads to imbalances and changes in the effectiveness of our internal systems.
 
Hormones and AgingThis imbalance can lead to a wide variety of health issues such as:
  • unexpected weight gain or loss
  • dry skin and hair
  • weak nails
  • fatigue
  • muscle weakness, aches, tenderness, and/or stiffness
  • joint pain, stiffness and/or swelling

  • Eat nutrient dense foods and healthy fats
  • Plenty of sleep every night
  • Stress reduction
  • Regular moderate exercise

  • If needed, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may help with symptoms.
 
4 - Keep Inflammation at BayInflammation is the body’s way of protecting itself. Physical injuries trigger the release of proteins, antibodies and increased blood flow to the area to repair the damage.
What many people are not aware of is that long-term exposure to irritants and toxins, food sensitivities, autoimmune disorders and even stress can cause an inflammatory response too. When this response continues for more than a few days, it’s considered chronic.
 
How Chronic Inflammation Ages YouChronic inflammation is a major component of accelerated aging and a risk factor for developing atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, strokes, heart attacks, fibromyalgia, arthritis, sinus infections, autoimmune conditions and cancer.
 
Testing for InflammationYour doctor can run a number of tests to check for inflammatory signals in your blood including the ESR blood test (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) or a CRP blood test (C-reactive protein). Food sensitivity testing can sometimes help get to the root of the problem.
 
Living an Anti-Inflammatory LifestylePreventive measures for chronic systemic inflammation include:
  • Adopting an anti-inflammatory diet
  • Reducing stress levels
  • Regular exercise
  • Ensuring your vitamin D levels are good
  • Including anti-inflammatory superfoods into your diet: omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil), linolenic acid (flax and hemp seed oils), green tea, turmeric, ginger, spirulina.
 
5 - Keep MovingAnd finally, regular physical activity is crucial to aging well. As we get older we start to lose bone density and muscle mass which impacts not only our physical strength, but more importantly our stability, bone strength and immune system. Keeping active and flexible throughout all stages of life allows us to stay healthy and remain independent in our later years.
 
Choose Activities that Suit YouRegular activity doesn’t have to mean team sports (although there is no harm in that.) Find a form of exercise that suits your lifestyle and level of fitness, and stick to it: Taking a walk, a Yoga or Pilates practice, swimming or cycling are all great lifelong habits. Make sure to include an element of weight resistance which helps strengthen your bones and joints as well as improving heart health.
 
Getting Your Body Some Help 
Although aging isn’t a choice, aging well is. There is a lot you can do to optimise your version of the aging process by identifying problem areas and adopting a preventive lifestyle. It’s never too late to make a difference.

I hope this finds you well. I can only imagine that you are enjoying all of the joys of  Summer. What is the difference between Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy and Universal Rays Healing?

Reiki is a hands on Japanese technique that has been around for almost 100 years- it is soothing and calming and creates a sense of balance for those who learn and receive it.

Integrated Energy Therapy is similar to Reiki however it works with an Angelic Frequency and allows one to clear emotions stored in the cells of the body for better performance and e-motional balance.
It is clear, crisp and relaxing as well.

Universal Rays Healing is a combination of Four Types of Healing- it brings through 12 Healing Rays, Angelic Energy, Pranic Healing and also works with the 14 Meridians  the same ones used in Chinese Acupuncture. It is a bigger process than the other two- you can read about it here. This course is 4 days and is sure to be a gigantic gift to you and all who come to meet you.

It's me Nancy. I am writing to invite you to take part in a The Master's Way course- The Path of Light. Once again I will be offering this class  via an internet format. This will proudly be my seventh year
This class is for you if:

-You  are deeply interested in evolving spiritually. 
- You want to study about the Ascended Masters or learn more about your light and how to expand it
-You do not know a group of people in your area to connect with.

 I am  offering The Path of Light Class on MONDAY evenings at 700 pm EST/ 500 pm MT/400 pm PDT just for you starting JUNE 21ST 2021 The  Path of Light class is 33 weeks, rich with material Path of Light Lessons but this way you can participate from home in your jammies or in your own personal space. We will be able to speak by video and exchange ideas and communications just as if we were sitting together in an intimate circle.

  The only requirement is that you make the same time commitment and personal commitment to the work and the group as a whole. Also, you must be able to be in a private room or mute yourself so that we are still in a sanctuary of peacefulness and classroom setting. So no dogs, interruptions, phonecalls- it is a distance class with the same respect for your fellow light travelers as you would ask for yourself. Hi everyone,
I hope this finds you well. As  this Mother’s Day weekend approaches I am reminded of mothers, college graduations and good health. I am reminded that I chose to study Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Florida- College of Health Related Professions and have been in my field of Nutrition and Health for 39 years- never skipping a year, a day or a beat.
Did you know that to be a Licensed Dietitian you must keep up your continuing education continuously to do the work you love? Well I do – and I do know my Nutrition.
So this week I was sitting with another beautiful client straightening out myths. She was having anxiety over eating fat. Does fat make you fat?  Absolutely not!
Do carbs make you fat? Not if you eat them correctly.
Does protein make you have muscle? Not the way I see it. You have to work for that- but you CAN maintain it's integrity through GOOD NUTRITION.
There are so many fallacies in the world of Nutrition- somehow we are sold a lot of information in order to promote someone else’s sales and push products. There are tons of great food products on the market- but we still must work with Knowledge and Science.
At Feeding The Body Feeding The Soul- we base our Nutrition Counseling on Science and Research. It is not fad related- and the counseling you receive is oriented to you at your age, your medical profile and your interest and ability to cook and feed yourself.  I have been counseling children through adults for 39 years and love every moment of it. From health and wellness to Medical Nutrition I hope I will offer you some sound, sage wisdom that has worked for a long time.
If you do sit down and eat an entire box of fried chicken chased by a carton of donuts with a gallon of whole milk- we might have to face the fact that these calories have the potential to make you fat- but that is what you get in a one on one discussion with a Licensed Registered Dietitian like me.

Weight Loss 10% Magic on the Inside!

We so often focus on the outside when we talk about losing weight. Let’s look at some amazing things that can happen on the inside. Here’s what losing 10% of your body weight could do for your body!
Your blood vessels supply the heart with the blood it needs to pump optimally. A 10% loss reduces your heart’s workload. By losing weight, you are reducing the fat that can form plaque and clog your coronary arteries. Clogged arteries can cause a heart attack. Lower that risk by lowering your weight.
Your weight and your blood pressure have a connection. If you are at a healthy weight you are more likely to maintain a healthy blood pressure. With a 10% weight loss, you may be able to reduce or possibly eliminate your blood pressure medications.
By lowering your body weight by 10%, you lower your risk of developing diabetes by 58 percent. Research has also shown that 10% weight-loss can decrease your A1C by half a point on average. That is very close to the effect that some anti-diabetic pills can have on blood sugar. A 10% weight-loss can also improve sleep apnea, or even make the use of a CPAP machine unnecessary.
Blood fats, or blood lipids, in your bloodstream can also change with weight loss. Your triglycerides goes down, your LDL (the bad kind) cholesterol goes down, and your HDL (the good kind) cholesterol goes up. A 10% weight-loss can result in a five point increase in HDL cholesterol. Getting and staying at a healthy weight and lowering your blood pressure usually means fewer blood clots that can break away and cause havoc with your brain, heart and/or lungs. A 10% loss can decrease the levels of inflammatory substances circulating in your blood thereby reducing the risk of vascular damage.

Find Your Point of View

Point of View-
Hi everyone, I hope this finds you well. There are so many sayings about point of view, which side of the bed you get out on and more.
I could share the story of how I ended up in Sunflower Park yesterday sharing a sandwich with my dogs and being pulled towards squirrels and such, or I could share that I found myself in a park with my favorite flower as it's name. Everything is in your point of view.
So I invite you this Monday to see if you can adjust your eyes to what you choose to see today. Do you see that you have a cold with a runny nose? Or do you see that you have soup and tea to drink in your favorite mug with amazing white blood cells that cheer you on in great support?
It's all in your Point of View. Be sure I am not PollyAnna, but finding the good or better in each open opportunity brings you into greater harmony and less separation from being loved. You are always loved.
So have another great, blessed Monday on this earth- and remember all the things you GET to do today rather than HAVE
TO.
